Neal Street makes distinctive, popular award-winning projects on both sides of the Atlantic, which include ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Informer’, ‘Britannia’, ‘Penny Dreadful’ and ‘The Hollow Crown’ in TV; ‘Empire of Light’, ‘1917’ in film and ‘The Ferryman’ and ‘The Lehman Trilogy’ in theatre.

About the Role

Neal Street is looking for someone to provide daily creative, editorial and administrative support to the small Film and TV Drama development team by being across all projects, submissions and development admin systems. This is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to be at the heart of development with one of the UK’s leading production companies.

Key responsibilities:

·To provide Script-Editing support on individual projects as required, generating both written and face-to-face feedback. This includes editorial, formatting and proofing.

·To be responsible for managing and turning around timely responses on all submissions, reporting to the Film and TV development team during designated meetings. Includes reading, discussing and providing reports - drafting and sending response emails on submission material eg Scripts, Treatments, Pitch docs, books and other talent material. And keeping the submissions responses up to date.

·To engage in the documentation of ideas from initial concept through to synopses, treatment and pitches including support materials (visual pitch decks etc) when required.

·To source, engage and oversee external readers and supporting development contributors as and when required.

·To attend writer and agent meetings with the Head of Development and Executive Producers when required and provide supporting notes.

·To assist with the progression of new and existing projects – this includes research and sourcing potential IP and consultants for development.

·To assist with shortlisting potential writing candidates for projects and proactively source and track writing talent – emerging and existing. This includes covering industry schemes.

·To manage and update general organisational systems for the Film and TV Development Team, including ad hoc support.


The successful applicant must demonstrate the following key skills;

·Script Editing Credits and Experience on TV Series

·Previous experience working in TV Development

·Extensive knowledge of Final Draft and other relevant software

·Proven track record of using initiative, prioritising and working independently

·Evident experience of editorial coverage including notes and script and book reports

·Outstanding organisational skills and impeccable attention to detail eg when proofing materials

·Excellent IT skills and proven ability to manage, create and maintain systems for Development projects

·Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

·Evident passion for TV Drama, Film, Theatre, Literature and Pop Culture

·Sensitivity, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential material
