The Natural History Unit at BBC Studios are looking for a Junior Production Manager to join the award-winning Deadly 60 team.

Working closely with the Production Manager you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the production, ensuring robust planning, accurate budgeting and setting up complex foreign shoots.

Contract Dates: 5 October – 5th February 2027

Base: Bristol, with a minimum of three days per week in the office

Closing Date: 6th of September 2026 (midnight)

Interviews: w/c 14th of September 2026.

This role is offered as a PAYE freelance contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage production budgets, forecasting and cost reporting, ensuring the series is delivered on budget.
  2. Coordinate complex, multi-location presenter-led shoots, including specialist activities such as diving and international filming.
  3. Line manage and support Junior PC, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  4. Oversee the smooth running of production operations.
  5. Monitor Health & Safety and sustainability requirements across all production activity.
  6. Support commissioning, production set-up and delivery processes.

About You:

  1. Previous experience working on a presenter-led factual production.
  2. Have multiple credits as a Production Co-ordinator on factual productions, with the skills, knowledge and experience to successfully step up into a Junior Production Manager position.
  3. Proven experience setting up and managing complex, multi-location presenter-led shoots, including specialist activities such as diving.
  4. Strong budgeting and financial management skills, with experience forecasting, reporting and managing production spend.
  5. Experience overseeing and supporting a Production Coordinator.
  6. Demonstrable knowledge of end-to-end production and post-production workflows across multiple platforms.
  7. Experience managing Health & Safety and sustainability requirements on location and across production.
  8. Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills.
  9. A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to build strong working relationships while managing competing priorities.
