?The Role
A global production company is looking for an experienced and creatively driven Development Executive, Formats to join our UK Development team. Working closely with the Head of Formats & Entertainment and the Creative Director, you'll help drive our transatlantic format slate from concept to market, combining strong commissioner relationships with market insight to maximise international sales opportunities. As a key member of the team,you'll accelerate formatdevelopment, ensuring ideasmove quickly and efficiently through the development process.
??Core Responsibilities
Slate buildingand strategy
?Propel original format generation across priority genres,focusing on quick wins, premium tentpoles and returnable franchises.
? Collaborate on a slateof ideas that emanate from multiple entrypoints across the company.
?Track briefs, slots, ratings and competitor moves, positioning each idea to the right buyer and time.
Pitching and commissioner relations
?Contribute to the execution of high-stake pitches in the market to US, UK, and international commissioners and partners.
?Cultivate and leveragean existing networkof strong relationships with commissioners globally to open up sales and co-development opportunities.
?Tailor US, UK and ROTW pitches by channel, networkand territory, presentconfidently in the room or on video, and manage notes and follow-ups at pace.
Teamwork and workflow
?Collaborate with a team of developers, fostering a culture of creative excellence and efficient format workflow.
?Drive workflows that ensure ideas move efficiently and quickly from development through packaging to market, prioritising speed and clear decision-making.
?Maintain trackers for ideas, casting, tests and report slate health to the Creative Directorand Head of Formats & Entertainment.
Format designand iteration
?Turn toplines into fleshed out concepts - playable games, twist mechanics, narratives with beginning, middle and end.
?Oversee gameplay sessions and run-throughs, applying sound editorial judgment to rapidly iterate and improve concepts.
Packaging and materials
?Build persuasive one-pagers, decks and sizzles that clearly express look, feel and audience engagement.
? Script and oversee sizzles,proof of conceptand test shoots.
Casting and talent packaging
?Run contestant and contributor castingpipelines with a focus on diversity and strong gameplay.
? Identify and approach hosts,judges and comedictalent with agents.
Budgeting and planning in development
?Strategicallycollaborate with our Production Team to producetop-sheet budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient resource allocation for tasters, pilots, and test shoots.
?? Essential Requirements:
The ideal candidate possesses:
USA and UK Networkexperience
?A proven track record of developing seriesthat have successfully sold, with experience being in key decision-making and pitching rooms
?Strong industry intelligence and market awarenessacross USA and UK networksand platforms.
? Knowledge of the different rhythms and processesof pitching in each territory.
? Existing relationships with commissioners in the UK and the USA
Format craft
?Can design repeatable, scalable mechanics with clear jeopardy,reveals and pace; can recognise the difference between family viewing and post-watershed tone.
?Can write tight format beats and rules that are fair, producible and playable in studio or on location.
Story and entertainment sense
?Can shape characteraround gameplay; understanding judge or host voice and audience needs.
?Demonstrates sound editorialjudgement about ideas based on a deep understanding of target audiences, channels needs, and editorial guidelines
Prototyping and testing
?Is experienced in tabletop playtestsand office run-throughs; and measures what works in order to make improvements quickly.
Production literacy
? Has a solid grasp of studioworkflows, set implications, graphics and soundpackages.
? Is comfortable supervising short edits in Premiereor Avid and giving clear notes.
Communication and collaboration
? A genuineexcitement for buildingon and moving forward with ideas.
?The experience and confidence to recognise when a conceptis ready to be pushedforward, even if that means challenging internal feedback or notes.
? Is persuasive on the page and in the room; a sharp copywriter with presence.
?Proven ability to collaborate with high-performing development teams; can set clear briefs, give constructive notes, coach juniors, and maintain composure when priorities shift.
