Vic Roye Talent is recruiting an experienced Development Producer on behalf of 22Summers for an initial three-month contract, with an immediate start.

22Summers is a production company known for bold, premium factual storytelling, including Erased: WWII Heroes of Colour, Idris Elba: Our Knife Crime Crisis and the upcoming Netflix feature with King Charles III, The King, His Trust and I. The role will suit someone who can generate, shape, and gain access to standout documentary ideas from concept through to commission, bringing strong journalistic instincts, editorial rigour, and a fact-led approach to development.

The Role

You’ll be a key part of the development team, working end-to-end across premium documentary projects, applying journalistic judgement, rigorous research, and ethical storytelling throughout the development process.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience developing premium character-driven propulsive documentaries (essential). Experience developing ideas in true crime, music, sport and pop culture preferable.

• A strong understanding of the full development process: from having the initial idea, interrogating it thoroughly, working tenaciously to land the access and writing excellent pitch materials, with a journalist’s eye for accuracy, verification, and clarity.

• Demonstrable experience gaining access to contributors, worlds, and sensitive stories, including handling complex or sensitive subject matter responsibly and ethically.

• A natural ideas generator with sharp editorial judgement and strong journalistic instincts.

• A deep understanding of the premium docs landscape - broadcasters, platforms, and what cuts through, including editorial and compliance expectations.

• The ability to spot a genuine gem early and confidently kill an idea that isn’t working, based on sound editorial and journalistic assessment.

• Confident working independently while collaborating closely with senior producers and execs, with the ability to present and defend ideas clearly and persuasively.
