** We’re Hiring: Series Director – BBC Three Series | South Shore **
South Shore is looking for Self-Shooting Series Director to lead an ambitious new BBC Three talent-led documentary series.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced documentary filmmaker who thrives in fast-moving, story-rich environments and can bring both creative vision and editorial rigour to a bold, character-driven project.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Strong Self-shooting – confident filming in challenging environments
- Creative leadership – overseeing the editorial vision and ensuring a distinctive, authentic tone that connects with BBC Three’s youth audience.
- Strong obs doc sensibilities – able to craft powerful narratives while maintaining truth, nuance, and sensitivity.
- Experience directing abroad – particularly in unpredictable or challenging environments, subject to delicate access
- Editorial judgment – skilled in navigating compliance and safeguarding with complex or sensitive contributors.
- Visual flair – an eye for cinematic documentary storytelling and the confidence to set a clear visual style.
We’re looking for someone collaborative yet decisive, with the resilience and creativity to guide a passionate team through an ambitious production.
Contract dates: Must be available in November for a recce. Shooting date to be confirmed in between Feb/March 2026
