Countryfile, BBC One’s flagship factual series, is looking for experienced Shooting Producer Directors to join our team.
Every week, Countryfile is at the center of rural affairs television in the UK, leading the news agenda and digging deeply into stories that really matter.
This is an exciting opportunity to film in a wide variety of rural locations around the UK and film a myriad of interesting topics – from wildlife, farming and the environment, to arts, literature, and technology.
We would like to hear from PDs who have a strong track record in self-shooting, a range of edit experience and the ability to work to tight deadlines on a fast-paced production.
The PDs varied duties will include managing complex schedules and overseeing the process from scripting to directing and post-production – including overseeing dubs, online, and grades.
The PDs will need to work closely with the team to ensure all content is thoroughly researched and that it meets the BBC’s editorial standards and that all duties are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
Main Responsibilities
• Self-shoot presenter-led films with high-profile talent.
• Manage complex filming schedules and logistics.
• Script, direct, and oversee edits from offline to final delivery.
• Collaborate closely with editorial leads, researchers, and production teams.
• Ensure all content meets BBC editorial standards and Health & Safety regulations.
Are you the right candidate?
• A strong track record in self-shooting and factual storytelling.
• Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Excellent scripting and edit experience.
• An interest in stories of the UK countryside.
• Strong team player with great communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to translate complex topics into compelling, accessible television.
Base: Bristol / Hybrid
Start Date: Various start dates in August 2025 for 3 months initially.
